Ships and Fear

My heart has failed
Failed
So
Desperately
In this dungeon
Deadlocked
Despair
The bars
Beam
Gleams
Of golden leaves
Robes
Of dawn
Lay me
Down to sleep.
Cool night
A shawl
For my grief
It turns cogs
Behind this
Engine in my mind
It drives
The blackness
Of the night.
Daylight is dark
Life is just
a fantasy
Misty as a
Far gone ship
Horizons
On the turquoise sea.

Our heavy sleep (poem of mine)

I miss
The warmth
Of back
To chest
I miss
The interlocking
Soft breathing
And the slow tracing
The downy hair
Reminding my fingertips
Of the arch of your elbow
The slope of your neck
I miss
The cracks of light
A bright right angle
Through the shutters
And the midnight traffic
Silently humming at the edge of the city
Like ants
Their lights flickered behind my eyelids
I miss
The parts of you
The ones that tell me
I am cold at night.
Fingertips trace
The blue sheets.
I imagine arms,
Strands of your hair,
Our heavy sleep.

The Cool Beneath (poem of mine)

Somehow I am lost
And have found my way
To this endless drawing board.
Without guiding hands,
I am a compass,
Pulseless, without a magnet.
I am forever at sea.

Each grain of day
Creates a nausea
Not unlike
That which
Turns you pale.
Forever lost,
In this terrifying plateau,
Of blue
And cool beneath.

Rock my heart,
Only if you will let the light in,
Turn my bow,
To starboard
Only if you know
Where we are going.

Otherwise
Leave me for the sea
Let me breathe,
With the cool green lungs
Of beneath.
